2018 Awards banquet

In 2015, the Rotary Club of Sierra founded the Rotary Humanitarian STAR Awards to honor scientists that use their achievement to benefit humanity. The awards recognize innovations with humanitarian applications in the following categories: health and medical, knowledge sharing, environmental improvement, and disaster relief and recovery.

The Third Annual Rotary Humanitarian STAR Awards will be held on January 31, 2019 at the University Club of Pasadena. A wine and cheese reception will begin at 6:00 pm with dinner starting promptly at 7:00 pm. Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Pasadena and Sierra Madre, the elegant affair will feature a sit down dinner followed by the awards ceremony with a special award being presented to Lawrence "Larry" Sanger, the co-founder of Wikipedia.
